State of the Server Address

Hello GrimurRP Community,

It’s time for an important update and a look into the future of our server. As many of you are aware, we’ve been actively discussing and evaluating the state of our war system. Your feedback and participation have been invaluable in this process, and today, I want to outline our reflections and the steps we're taking to make the server better.

Recap on War System and Addressed Issues:

Surrender Terms: We've noticed that the terms for surrendering in wars have been too lenient. We are looking at implementing a system by where staff mediates between groups to create a reasonable expectation for compensation in negotiations for the defeated. This will NOT change surrenders being a one way consent affair, merely that staff are looking to reworking this system.

War Standards: There's been a general consensus that the standard, quality, and effort in waging wars need elevation. We want wars to be engaging, well-thought-out, and contributing to the overall world-building experience. There will be a big focus on making sure that players engage in proper roleplay to justify wars, we do not want this server to be the playground for PVP players.

Staff Approval for Wars: To ensure quality control, wars will be be approved by staff via a ticket system.

Extended Warmup Period: We’re extending the warmup period for wars from 24 hours to 72 hours. This allows for better planning and preparation, ensuring a more immersive experience.

War Mechanics: There will be back end work to ensure that all mechanics work as expected in normal gameplay per wiki.

Restrictions on Multiple Wars: To avoid fragmenting conflicts, nations will now have to invite all participants during the initial declaration or the warmup period. This will foster more unified and coherent war narratives aswell as keeping things fair for the participants.

Removal of Mid-week Skirmishes: Coordinating these has been challenging due to time zone differences. We plan to slow down the war pace and replace this content with other engaging activities like war-zones.

Rule Changes: Staff have deemed rule changes necessary to preserve the good-spirited nature of the community and to prioritize roleplay.

Server Expansion and New Initiatives:

Inviting Competition: More people = more fun, we're going to be launching another invite competition from the date this post goes live, this competition will last for two weeks. The rewards will be as follows:

  1. $50 USD Store Credit
  2. $25 USD Store Credit
  3. $10 USD Store Credit

New Content Teasers: Stay tuned for teasers of our mid-week content, we seek to fill the content void.

Video Production: We’re in the process of producing exciting content that showcases the best of GrimurRP.

Staff Recruitment: Our team is growing! If you’re interested in being a part of our staff, check out our staff applications page on the hotbar more section.

The Dirty:

Recently we have implemented harsher policy with regards to problem players in groups, this policy is explicitly intended to break up groups that have repeated server rule breaches that are specifically the responsibility of their leadership. The policies are accompanied with rule changes to allow us to enforce these lines:

  • Knowingly inviting alternate accounts or ban evasion accounts of known banned players as a town leader is illegal
  • Doxing other players or staff is illegal, this was already the case but I feel the need to iterate it, yes we can read your town chat (although we wish we hadn't)
  • Anti-social or pedophile behaviour is illegal and we will moderate for this, no one thinks it's a funny joke to claim you like children (we will ban you)
  • Constant mechanics abuse is illegal, obviously.

We highly advise players to remove permanently banned players from their communities, while staff does not consider association outside of direct in-game links to be considered an offense it is our ultimate aim to completely drive these people outside of the sphere of the GrimurRP community. Staff sees them as being convinced of being on a "holy mission" to destroy GrimurRP, between the raids on our: Reddit advertisements, PlanetMinecraft page, false (and rejected) Mojang EULA compliance complaints etc.

These are not players that we wish to entertain in any form from now on, we have lost our patience for it.

Stay tuned for more updates,

Kali
